Destination Wedding Gift Etiquette: Should You Still Buy a Gift for a Destination Wedding?

Guest article by Ashley Lipman

If you attend one of the millions of weddings taking place in the USA every year, it is customary to bring a gift of some kind for the bride and groom. This can be anything from household items, to money, to thoughtful personalized gifts. The choice is yours and will depend on things like your budget and their interests.

But what about if you go to a destination wedding? These are becoming more and more popular and there is a good chance you will find yourself invited to one. However, are you still supposed to bring a gift to a destination wedding. In simple terms, yes. It is a good idea to always bring a gift to a wedding, destination or not.

As for what you can bring as gifts, your options are plentiful. In an effort to help, we have decided to go over a couple of great wedding gifts for destination weddings.

Complete Bar Mixologist Gift Set

If the couple getting married loves having a few drinks or entertaining, this is a great gift to choose. The gift set includes a jigger, a cocktail mixer, a strainer, a bar spoon, glasses or several other useful items. All are well made and will last for many years if taken care of.

Not only that, but the mixologist set can be customized and personalized. Many of the items, including the high-quality gift box, can be personalized with the married couples names or a brief message.

Personalized Luggage

Another great idea for a gift could be some personalized luggage. Between the destination wedding, their honeymoon and any other planned trips, you can rest assured they will get used frequently. Any photo or design can be added to the luggage, whether it be a picture of the couple, their pet or even just an exciting design.

In addition to being fun and unique, these pieces of luggage are also well-made. They are sturdy, have internal straps and feature a useful locking system. They also offer 360-degree swivel, an adjustable handle, and many other helpful features.

A Custom Travel Map

If the couple is having a destination wedding, there is a good chance that they love to travel. One of the most exciting parts about traveling is the memories and being able to share them with each other and your friends. Getting the lucky couple a personalized travel map is a great way to help them do both.

This map, personalized with the names of the married couple, is hand-made in the USA and comes with red pins to mark where you have been, and green ones to show where you want to go. The maps are incredibly high-quality, come with a frame and are a great conversation piece for any room.

A Hammock Chair

One of the best things about a destination wedding is sitting in a hammock by the beach with a nice, cold beverage hand. It can be very tough to leave that and head back to reality. However, that relaxation doesn’t have to stop once you get home from the wedding. Getting the couple a hammock chair as a wedding gift can bring the tropical feel right to their home.

These hammock chairs are made of natural cotton and wood, are very supportive, and look incredible. The new couple will surely get a lot of use out of this comfortable and unique piece of furniture and will think of you every time they use it.

A GoPro

Getting the couple a GoPro is a perfect choice for a destination wedding. Not only will it help capture the fun of their wedding and the previous/following days in the sun, but it could help them document their honeymoon and any other vacation they might take. These cameras last a very long time and are waterproof.

Many come with great features like 4k video, time-lapse mode, voice control and they are built well and will stand up to life’s bumps and bruises. There are also several different options out there when it comes to GoPro, along with several different price points. Also, don’t forget that different types of electrical plugs will be used in different places in the world! So, make sure your friends/cousins have a suitable adapter for charging their gadgets!

In conclusion, yes, bringing a gift to a destination is still a good idea. Any of the items or products we covered here are great options to consider!
